It's at lock up!

It's been a while since my last post. Sorry about that.

So since then a lot has happened - the house is ready and is now locked up. The massive bill also came a long and burnt a big hole in our pockets, that's another 40% of the chunk of the loan gone to the house-
 kaaaa-boom!

And here's Henley's version of the 'Lock Up Stage'.... 3 bricks stacked to keep the door locked ..dear me

Pictures below show how far they got with the house. The house is also rendered, as we've gone with the classique facade.

Bricking is also done - It looks amazing.

floors, Sydney Blue Gum

Liking this look.....Its called Sydney Blue Gum Solid Timber Flooring

Chill please, chill

So we found some notes around the house. Seeing as the plaster has been done all around the house, there was this one board that wasnt nailed on for good reason...the plumber needed to gain access...how did I know? Through their lovely messages about each other.

Here's one from by plasterer about the plumber.... Found it quite funny...

Today they went to plaster the gaps and smooth the surfaces of the plaster boards. So far , looking pretty good....

The bricks feel like they are taking forever  to put on. I'm sure they'll be done by 24 December in time for lock up. The last of the bricking needs to be done in the front facade, the two pillars at the grand alfresco and all around the window areas.

All electric cables were done last week. It only took them one day.

The ducks - the heating and cooling system - went in last week too. They took two days to complete last week.

Welcome to the pink room!

Here's to our pink room...its fully decked out in pink baton wall insulation. 'Its so nicely stacked, usually only people who build homes themselves only stack this good!' - compliments from our independent inspector today.

Our electrics were installed on Friday, 10 December. And on Friday night plus over the weekend, the 'cabbler' came in to install our network cables. :P

Cheer's to the commencement of our plastered roof - they managed to get it all up in one day! So hopefully they'll have the plaster for the walls up before Christmas ready for lock up - yayyyyyy!

Just an update on the bricks: 2 walls are almost complete (as you can see from the picture below). They've also commenced on the front of the house as well as the garage area. Any day now...they are soo fast like speedddy gonzales!

if life could be a dream, shhhhhaboom, shabooom! ta-dah!

Kuya Michael saying 'Hi!'

pictures below are of a family undergoing the same process as us. Its amazing to see the different processes and methods of building a house in a different country.

one wall complete

so its complete. That one wall looks beautiful.

do you know that colourbond ad, where the guy gets caught admiring his roof out on his front lawn - thats how i feel about my new brick walls ;)

We also got a delivery of 6 new plates of bricks. i only spotted this because of the fresh tire marks and the lack of space at the front of the house.

good to know the brickies are using sunscreen :)

the below pictures were taken yesterday. its amazing what they can achieve in a day's work!

building the great wall!

So the roof has now been completed and the bricks, bricks, bricks are being laid. They are so pretty, I cant wait for them to be completed. The house is so long, Im wondering whether there's enough bricks to cover the whole house....

They've commenced bricking from the back and will go around the whole house.

We've gone for the raked finish.

Using off white mortar in-between the bricks. Slabs and slabs of mortar on stand by.

Temporary doors, getting ready for lock up stage.

someones been eating spaghetti...

Also, the site inspection went well. There were 4 items that needed attention and all but (i think) two thinks need further action. Will post the report soon.
