the fixing - part 4

why-oh-why, does this stage of the build feel like the longest, most drawn out, lengthiest piece of string, that its like it's dragging it's feet? Why does it take this long....

Chris and I are on a downer cause we just "we want to move in!" .....cant wait any longer....

I wish more work had been done today....

But only so far, the shared bathroom

The Ensuite shower.

But then there's so many hiccups around the house...it makes you kinda mad.."why cant they just do it right the first time"???

How shocking is that powerpoint picture below? Someone had a hisssssy fit trying to nail it in.

the fixing stage - part 3

so it really is the fixing of the 'fixing stage'. The builders have made a lot of scratches here and there. And where they are seen to be 'fixing things', it feels like they making more minor mistakes else where. At this rate, we'll never be able to move into our house. Oh, no, dear me.

But what to do? Just really watch them because you really cant hide from it.

Here are prime examples of scratches left ..... everywhere.

The theatre room...

But in the bathroom the doors have arrived.

Shrekkkkk

I screamed with utter joy when I saw the garage doors had been installed on Monday!

The house looks soo much more complete now. Here's a sneak peak.

The port-a-loo (toilet) has also been taken away - that was a ghastly sight to behold.

And Chris' fancy choice - the kitchen tap.

the fittings

the fiance and i couldnt get into the house today - which is a good thing - given its at "lock-up stage".

We did manage to take a sneak peak around the house through the windows but we couldnt  take in that much detail cause we were looking from afar.

So today we discovered that the trenching for the retaining wall has commenced....

All the fittings have been done, this includes:
  1.  all the door handles (interior and exterior),
  2. 99% of the electrical  are done,
  3. the basins are in,
  4. the toilet railings are in,
  5. the mirrors are in,
  6. rain-forest shower tap (in the showers of course) and
  7. so are the taps for the basins!

Im so glad we went with this upgrade to the rain-forest shower tap - showers will be fab!

And we're patting our selves on the back for our good judgement to go with square basins rather than the circle ones. Some of the circle basins we've seen look like they're bowl noodles, and that wouldnt fit into the style we're after.

So far, its looking good.

Any day now our administrator will call us up to say the house is ready and that we'll need to pay the last bill.

Until next time....

The Peach Cake

I thought I would share a little something different with you all.

Lately, Ive been experimenting in the kitchen learning how to make a Peach Cake. Below is the base recipe Ive been working from. I can tell you that this is the best cake mix ever. EVER.

Ive now tried this cake over 5 times, and each time the cake has disappeared with a blink of an eye around my house....Well, even faster when my sister is around.

Ive now tried this recipe using Granny Smith apples, rhubarb, strawberries, peaches (of course) and tonight, it's with blueberries.

Ive even had request to make the cake without the fruit because it's just so good on its on as well.

A must try.

It turns out like this.

just follow this simple recipe from The Baking Pan

And then there was light!

Boooom, we have lights!

And they are almost done with the electrical around the house. A few more switches here and there to go.

And then, there was an exhaust fan. Hehehehehe
